The Brea-Olinda school board voted Monday to change district policy to prohibit students from being promoted to a higher grade level based solely on age. Although the approved regulation said challenge and success for students most often occurs in their own age group, the rules set down minimum standards students must meet before advancing.
In other business, red ribbons will be distributed at local schools Oct. 25 to 29 as part of the annual national drug awareness campaign.
