A Tustin man can sue the Los Angeles Rams for allegedly duping him into renewing his season ticket by concealing its plan to move to St. Louis, a state appeals court ruled in Santa Ana.
Larry Charpentier can try to prove that Ram owners committed fraud by failing to disclose an escape clause in their lease with the city of Anaheim from 1990 onward, and by denying as late as May 1994 that they intended to move or were talking with other cities, said the 4th District Court of Appeal.
The Rams announced their move to St. Louis in January 1995.
Gregory R. Smith, a lawyer for the Rams, did not return a telephone call from the Associated Press to his office seeking comment.
