The Orange County Water District will co-sponsor a water learning center at the Discovery Museum of Orange County in Santa Ana. With the Municipal Water District of Orange County, the Orange County Health Care Agency and the city of Newport Beach, the district will sponsor design, construction and operation of the center. The cost is estimated at $20,000.

The permanent water center will include an outdoor classroom and exhibit hall. Visitors can learn about various aspects of the county’s water system, including a model of the ground-water basin, wetlands, water history, watersheds, water quality tests and many other aspects of our local water supplies. Visitors will also be able to take tap, rain and wetlands water samples, then test the water and track changes.

Construction of the exhibit is expected to start next month, and it will be open to the public this summer.
