Lalime Gets a Shutout as Senators Beat Capitals

Patrick Lalime stopped 19 shots for his third shutout this season and Ottawa captain Daniel Alfredsson scored twice as the Senators beat the Washington Capitals, 4-0, Tuesday night at Kanata, Canada.

Ottawa set a franchise record with its 23rd home victory.

The Southeast Division-leading Capitals lost for the third time in four games.

Tom Barrasso was scheduled to make his eighth start in the Senators’ goal in nine games, but bruised his left index finger when he was hit on the first warmup shot by Kevin Dineen.

Philadelphia 5, Atlanta 3--Mark Recchi fed Simon Gagne for a breakaway goal with 1:35 left as the Flyers won at Atlanta.

Craig Berube, Valeri Zelepukin and Andy Delmore each had a goal and an assist to move the Flyers into a tie with Washington for second place in the Eastern Conference playoff race.
