Rookie Reinprecht’s Dream Comes True

Share

Steve Reinprecht got the word Wednesday morning.

“I told him he might want to have his parents have the VCR ready,” King Coach Andy Murray said.

It had the anticipated effect.

“I’m nervous and a little scared,” acknowledged Reinprecht, the newest King who less than two weeks ago was playing for Wisconsin. “I don’t want to think about this being a dream come true, but I know it is.”

A dream coming true, with a bit extra.

He grew up in Edmonton, watching the Oilers win championships.

Reinprecht’s first assignment Wednesday night: a face-off against Mark Messier in the Kings’ end, with Reinprecht winning the draw.

Reinprecht, who was signed by the Kings as a free agent after leading the nation in scoring with 26 goals and 66 points, also grew up watching Kelly Buchberger, now a teammate.
