Waves Lose Opener to MLS Pro-40

MLS Pro-40 scored midway through the second half and held on for a 1-0 victory over the Orange County Waves in an A-League soccer game Sunday at Santa Ana Stadium in front of 1,258.

DeMarcus Beasey scored off an assist from Yuri Lavrinenko for MLS Pro-40 in the 73rd minute of the season opener for both teams.

The Waves outshot MLS Pro-40, 10-7. The teams combined for 41 fouls and yellow cards were issued to Wave players Jake Dancy, Nick Theslof, Jose Vasquez and Gustavo Leal.

The Waves’ next game is April 16 against the Boston Bulldogs at Santa Ana Stadium.
