Scandinavian Airlines System ordered 22 Airbus Industrie aircraft worth $1.7 billion to replace Boeing Co. aircraft, its first purchase from the European plane maker in two decades. The carrier signed an order for four A-330-300 and six A-340-300 long-haul jets, worth about $1.2 billion, to replace Boeing 767-300s. Scandinavian also ordered 12 A-321-100 aircraft worth $520 million. The planes are scheduled for delivery starting in mid-2001. The joint flag carrier of Denmark, Norway and Sweden also took options on seven more long-haul and 10 A-321s.
