The fate of the city’s proposal to adopt 340 acres of land in Aliso Viejo may be stalled until 2001, county officials said Wednesday.
The Local Agency Formation Commission, the county-created agency that oversees the formation of cities, has approved a delayed timetable for Aliso Viejo’s incorporation bid, which must be considered equally with the city’s proposal.
The new timetable would miss the deadline for residents living in the affected areas to vote on the annexation in the November 2000 elections.
A commission hearing to vote on the incorporation would have to be held in early July to meet the deadline, said Dan Schwarz, commission policy analyst.
Right now, it appears unlikely that the hearing will be held before August, he said.
