Teen Survives Cliff Fall, 3 Fractures, Blood Loss
A runaway survived four days on rainwater after breaking both arms and suffering severe blood loss in a 100-foot fall off a cliff, a newspaper reported Wednesday.
Fishermen on the Cumberland River heard the cries of Harold Chandler Jr., 17, and rescued him, the Lexington Herald-Leader reported.
Chandler had run away from the Kentucky Baptist Home for Children, an institution for emotionally troubled youths in southern Kentucky.
The sharp fall onto his side broke both of Chandler’s arms, fractured a hip, punctured one lung and cost him a gallon of blood.
