Lopez-Perez Seats Available

A limited number of tickets go on sale at 4 p.m. for a five-bout boxing card tonight at the Valencia Hyatt.

Samuel Lopez of North Hills, a left-hander who is unbeaten in five professional bouts, meets Antonio Perez of Pasadena in an eight-round junior-bantamweight contest.

The card includes a bantamweight match between women, two welterweight bouts and a featherweight fight.

Perez (4-3) is the most experienced opponent for Lopez, who has three knockouts. Lopez, a native of Mexico, trains at the Golden Loy Boxing Club in North Hills.

“He’s on his way up,” said Louie Loy, Lopez’s trainer. “Perez will be a tough opponent. But [Lopez] can handle a tough fighter. He has good power and is ready to take on stronger fighters.”

Loy said Perez has fought aggressively in the past and should force Lopez to counterpunch.

“[Perez] likes to come forward and doesn’t back down,” Loy said. “If [Lopez] is going to climb up the [boxing] ladder, these are the type of [opponents] he must challenge and beat.”

Welterweight Jorge Vega, who lost in his pro debut, takes on Carson Gauthreaux (1-3) of Las Vegas, and welterweight Richard Gonzalez (3-5) faces Darrin Hughes of Palm Springs, who recently won his debut.

Vega and Gonzalez are Golden Loy boxers.

Juan Ramirez of Santa Clarita makes his pro debut against Terry Evans of Los Angeles in a featherweight bout.

The women’s bout features Paula Fey of East Los Angeles against Lisa Valencia of Pomona.

Doors open at 6 p.m. and the first fight is at 7:15.
