DANA POINT
The City Council voted unanimously to approve the pilot Dana Point Dock Walker Program, which is intended to increase water-quality awareness and provide information to boaters at Dana Point Harbor.
Volunteers will distribute information from the Clean and Green Boating Program and Orange County’s Bilge Pad Recycling Program. They will also report fuel and waste spills to Harbor Patrol authorities.
The Dana Marina Co. and the county will train the volunteers, who will communicate with the county, marina companies and the Harbor Patrol.
The program, which will run from May to September, will be evaluated by the city, and the council will determine whether to continue it next year.
