New Sports Center Offers Free Passes

Share

The West Valley Jewish Community Center is offering free one-week passes to its new state-of-the-art sports complex, which offers an array of activities.

Opened in December, the Ferne Milken Youth and Sports Complex includes basketball and volleyball courts, an indoor swimming pool, and weight training and cardiovascular rooms. For after workouts, there’s a steam room, sauna and whirlpool. The complex, at 22622 Vanowen St. in West Hills, also has a large multipurpose room and teen center.

Although center memberships--currently at 1,400--are up 20% since the sports complex opened, officials hope the free passes will make more community members aware of the $4.5-million complex.

“Since we’re not on a main strip, sometimes people don’t know we’re here,” said Ronda Wilkin, center director. “We want everyone to know. It’s a phenomenal center.”

The passes are available now and will be good through May 31. Passes may be picked up at the fitness center office from 6 a.m. to 9 p.m. Monday through Thursday, 6 a.m. to 5 p.m. Friday and 9 a.m. to 5 p.m. Sunday, or at the business office from 8 a.m. to 6 p.m. Monday through Thursday and 8 a.m. to 5 p.m. Friday. Further information on the sports complex is available by calling (818) 464-3300.
