Easter Bowl Opens in Palm Springs

Eighteen county players begin competition today in the 33rd Easter Bowl Junior Tennis Championships at Riviera Resort and Racquet Club in Palm Springs.

Thirteen-year-old Tracy Lin of Anaheim, seeded 10th in the girls’ 14 division, is the hottest player from the county competing in the annual national tournament. Lin hasn’t lost a set during three Southern California girls’ 14 tournaments this year.

The county’s highest-ranked player in the tournament is Henry Mak of University High, who is seeded second in the boys’ 16 division.

Play begins today for boys and girls in the 14 and 16 divisions. On Sunday, competition starts in the 18 division, where Corona del Mar’s Caylan Leslie--seeded 16th--is the highest-ranked county player.

Finals for the 14 and 16 divisions will be April 21. Finals in the 18 division are scheduled for April 22. Competition begins each day at 8 a.m.
