First Woman Joins Motorcycle Traffic Detail
For the first time in the Police Department’s history, a woman has become a motorcycle traffic officer, officials have announced.
Jennifer Turpin-Wickman, a nine-year law enforcement veteran, began her duty this week as a motorcycle officer--one of eight in the department, according to Lt. Ronald McDonald.
McDonald said Turpin-Wickman completed a two-week training course at the San Bernardino County Sheriff Training Center, then was assigned to a training officer for an orientation period.
Turpin-Wickman, 29, worked for the San Bernardino County Sheriff’s Department for more than two years. She was hired by the Pomona Police Department in October 1993.
