Ira P. Heymann; Award-Winning Film and Television Editor

Ira P. Heymann, 87, award-winning editor for motion pictures and television. In his half-century career, Heymann edited films for MGM for three decades and then switched to CBS to work on television for 20 years. He earned two Golden Scissors Awards, in 1970 and 1972, from the American Cinema Editors for outstanding achievement in film editing. He earned an Eddy in 1972 for editing the best television special of the year, a movie production titled “Visions.” Other television editing projects included such series as “Mr. Novak” and “Hawaii Five-O.” A native of Brooklyn, N.Y., Heymann served as an Army staff sergeant during World War II. On Tuesday in Los Angeles.
