Juror Shortage

Re “Shortage of Jurors Forces Trial Delays,” April 7.
As someone who spent a week waiting in a jury assembly room without ever being assigned to a trial, I enjoyed reading about the trial delays at the Van Nuys court caused by a shortage of jurors. The one-day / one-trial jury program should force the courts to have greater respect for potential jurors, rather than viewing their time as an unlimited resource that can be wasted without consequence.

If there is a shortage of jurors in Van Nuys, why then am I (living in Woodland Hills) forced to do jury duty in Santa Monica? At least if I am a no-show, they know where to find me: stuck on the 405!
