Aid for Animals

* I read your March 28 article about the South-Central animal shelter with tears in my eyes. I called the Department of Animal Regulation to ask if there was an emergency fund for these animals to which I could make a contribution.

I was told that donations could be made to the department’s Animal Welfare Trust Fund. The address is 419 S. Spring St., 14th Floor, Los Angeles, 90013. Contributions can be designated for any number of programs, such as the spay and neutering van, humane education or any specific shelter. I just sent a donation marked South-Central animal shelter relief.

In the future, I plan to support the fund’s other programs. If people who care about animals make a donation to this fund and encourage their friends to do so, we will soon put an end to the unnecessary pain and suffering that occurs throughout our very overburdened shelter system.
