Qualms Over Chavez Ravine?
After reading “Hemorrhaging Dodger Blue” (by James Bates, March 12), I have to wonder if new Dodger chief Robert Daly has any qualms about the way former team owner Peter O’Malley obtained Chavez Ravine.
Bates noticed a bulldozer scraping infield dirt, “moving so slowly that a one-armed catcher” could have thrown it out. Do Daly and Bates know about the Battle of Chavez Ravine on May 9, 1959? The bulldozers did not move slowly that day, when sheriff’s deputies evicted the last of the homeowner holdouts.
