City officials removed a speed bump from the corner of Via Lido Nord and Via Genoa on Lido Isle last week after a resident complained that it caused noise and safety hazards.

The yellow plastic speed bump was installed a month ago because of concerns about people driving too fast on the residential street and not coming to a complete stop, said Hugh Helm, president of the Lido Isle Community Assn.

The intersection is next to Genoa Park, where many children play.

Since the speed bump was added, it has drawn opposition from some residents who say it’s noisy and dangerous. Resident Brian Singer also complained that he and others living around the intersection were not consulted before the bump was installed.
