Suspect in Fatal Shooting Surrenders
A man wanted in the shooting death of a Lancaster teenager surrendered Thursday, turning himself in to his attorney in Upland, authorities said.
Tremaine Burt, 23, of Lancaster, was booked at the Los Angeles County sheriff’s Walnut station on suspicion of murder, said Deputy Bruce Thomas. He is being held in lieu of $1-million bail.
Burt allegedly attacked Timothy Jackson, 19, in the 2300 block of West Avenue J-8 on March 26, Thomas said. The victim was shot more than once and later died at a hospital.
Last week, sheriff’s deputies released Burt’s photograph.
“We had no idea where he was,” Thomas said.
Homicide detectives are still investigating the shooting and have not disclosed a possible motive, he said.
