Jacobs Doing the Job for Lake Elsinore

Share

Greg Jacobs hasn’t wasted any time in establishing himself at Lake Elsinore, a Class-A Angel affiliate.

Jacobs, a left-handed relief pitcher, has yet to give up a run in 8 1/3 innings. He went three innings, striking out three, and earned the victory Tuesday against Rancho Cucamonga. He has eight strikeouts and three walks in six appearances.

Jacobs, a graduate of Canyon High who also played at Cal State Fullerton, is making that statement close to home. Instead of living with a host family in Lake Elsinore, as most Storm players do, Jacobs stays in his condo in Anaheim.

This is a welcome change for Jacobs, who lived in Cedar Rapids, Iowa, while playing for the Class-A Kernels last season.

“I’m a little down that I’m not going to double A, but, shoot, this is paradise right now for me,” Jacobs said. “I’m living at home. My friends are here. Half of my family is here. My girlfriend is here. It’s nice weather, a nice stadium, nice people, everything. . . . I drive to the park and go home at night instead of being somewhere else. Like Cedar Rapids.”
