SPECIAL TO THE TIMES

Tustin Unified School District Board of Education member Tammie Bullard has been elected to the California School Boards Assn. Delegate Assembly.

Bullard will join Tustin Unified board member Ann Albertson, who was appointed to the organization last year, making it the first time two Tustin board members will serve on the Delegate Assembly at the same time.

The assembly provides a communications link to school boards and other public officials at the local, state and national levels. Assembly members also adopt policies and positions on education issues.

“I will be acting as a liaison to the local school boards in this region,” Bullard said. “I am very pleased, and I’m really excited.”

The local region includes all Orange County school boards and the Lowell Joint School District.

The mother of a 5-year-old kindergartner, Bullard has served on the school board since 1996. She will be seated May 5 in Sacramento and will serve a two-year term.

Some of her accomplishments include completing the California School Boards Assn. Masters of Boardsmanship program and serving two years as board representative for the Coastline Regional Occupational Program. She also was involved in the adoption and implementation of new curriculum standards in language arts and math for the district.
