Residents may soon have the opportunity to influence what becomes public art in the city.

The Arts Commission has drawn up qualification guidelines for a public art advisory committee.

The advisory committee would make recommendations to the commission on whether or not to accept works of art donated to the city.

Monday, the commission unanimously agreed to send its recommendations to city staff for review.

The City Council would still have final approval.

Nominees for the advisory committee must have training, educational or professional experience in the arts.
