YORBA LINDA
A row of weather-beaten rail cars has sat along Imperial Highway for about 30 years, rusting near the intersection of Eureka Avenue. Wildflowers and weeds sprout around the red and yellow cars.
The iron horse relics, including a century-old caboose and a line of mail cars about a block away, were about to be moved out of town to make way for the Imperial Highway widening. But now the city is venturing to save at least those that have historical significance and move them to a spot for public display.
A Brea realty company bought the cars years ago for posterity’s sake. The Yorba Linda Historical Assn. once used one for storage.
