Birds and Remote-Control Planes

Re “Fights of Flight: Remote-Glider Enthusiasts Follow the Winds to Stage Their Air Wars,” April 25.

I read this article about these juvenile men flying their remote-control airplanes at Grant Park with appall.

I live near the bottom of the hill and often observe these men flying their airplanes. I was happy to hear that a bird of prey had damaged one of their airplanes.

The hawks have really just started to return within the past couple of years, and I observe these men playing fighter pilot with the birds, not their friends with the planes.

Why can’t you little boys just leave the birds alone and go play somewhere else? The hawks were here before you.
