A 21-year-old Marine died and a midshipman was injured during a nighttime training accident, military officials said Wednesday.

Cpl. Jeremy J. Fulk of New London, Iowa, died Tuesday when he was trapped between two 5-ton trucks as Marines and midshipmen were boarding the vehicles, said Capt. Patricia Restrepo, a Camp Pendleton spokeswoman.

The midshipman, Sarah Norman, 19, of Nashville, was listed in critical condition at Scripps Memorial Hospital in San Diego.

A midshipman is a college student enrolled in a Naval Reserve Officer Training Corps program.

Fulk and Norman had just completed a patrolling exercise when they were trapped between the two trucks, officials said. Fulk was an infantryman with the 1st Battalion, 1st Marine Regiment, who was assigned to Camp Pendleton in 1998.
