Wizards Tame the Rapids

Kerry Zavagnin scored two minutes into the game and the Kansas City Wizards went on to beat the Colorado Rapids, 3-1, on Wednesday night before 4,960 at Kansas City, Mo.
It was the quickest goal from the start of a match in Kansas City’s history.
The Wizards (13-5-5) added to their lead on a breakaway goal in the 75th minute when Milkos Molnar chipped the ball over Rapids’ goalkeeper David Kramer.
Paul Bravo scored the lone goal for Colorado (10-11-3) on a penalty kick with five minutes to play.
Kansas City completed the scoring when Gary Glasgow scored off a Chris Klein pass in the second minute of second-half extra time.
Columbus 2, San Jose 1--Mike Lapper and Brian McBride scored for the Crew (10-11-4), who handed the Earthquakes (5-11-8) their third consecutive home loss before 7,643 at San Jose.
San Jose had gone an MLS-record 15 games without a home loss but has been outscored, 6-3, in the last three home contests.
Chicago 1, Tampa Bay 0--Ante Razov scored on a penalty kick to lead the Fire (11-8-5) over the Mutiny (12-10-2) before 5,284 at Tampa, Fla., putting his team into a first-place tie with the Mutiny in the MLS Central Division.
Washington 3, New York-New Jersey 2--A.J. Wood redirected a shot by Richie Williams past MetroStar keeper Mike Ammann to give United (6-13-6) an overtime win over the MetroStars (13-8-2) before 13,801 at Washington.
Dallas 2, New England 1--Bobby Rhine scored one goal and set up a second to give the Burn (10-11-4) a victory over the Revolution (9-10-5) before 13,910 at Foxboro, Mass.
In the 67th minute, Rhine took a pass from Oscar Pareja and sent a cross to the left side that a sliding Jason Kreis deflected into the goal.
