Texas Ranger starter Ryan Glynn briefly lost consciousness in the dugout and was taken to a hospital a few minutes after he had been removed from Friday night’s game against the Boston Red Sox at the Ballpark of Arlington.

Play was suspended for 10 minutes while medical personnel attended to Glynn.

Glynn had been removed from the game with two outs in the fifth inning after the Red Sox scored four runs in the inning to stretch their lead to 7-1. The temperature at game time was 98 degrees and Glynn had thrown 95 pitches.

Glynn was hospitalized overnight for observation and tests. Boston won, 7-3.

In the middle of the fifth, Texas Manager Johnny Oates called for a paramedics cart to come to the dugout, where Glynn was lying on the ground.
