Acid Hits Woman; Man in Custody
A Dana Point man is in custody after squirting a woman in the back with boric acid in Laguna Beach, police said.
Charles Guenther, 55, was arrested for assault with a caustic chemical after allegedly spraying an Aliso Viejo woman on Laguna Main Beach. The woman was walking on the beach shortly before 2 p.m. when she felt a burning sensation on her back, spotted Guenther with a spray bottle and called for help, police said.
Guenther was arrested, and in an interview with authorities, admitted to squirting boric acid at the woman. The two did not know each other. The woman was not seriously injured, police said.
“He said he was doing it just for fun,” Officer Sean Prewitt said.
Police did not release the woman’s name.
