Acquitted Mom Files Claim
A Laguna Niguel woman acquitted this week on charges of murdering her infant son filed a $25 million claim against Orange County on Friday.
In her claim, Shantae Molina accused sheriff’s investigators of fabricating evidence and the Orange County district attorney’s office of presenting false testimony.
A deputy district attorney who prosecuted Molina has denied doing anything improper during the trial.
Jurors on Monday acquitted Molina of all charges related to the 1998 shooting death of her 8-month-old son.
During the trial, Molina testified that she shot the boy accidentally.
