The state Commission on Judicial Appointments on Friday unanimously approved Gov. Gray Davis’ two appointees to the 2nd District Court of Appeal in Los Angeles.

The commission voted 3 to 0 to affirm Davis’ nomination of Robert M. Mallano, 61, of Rolling Hills Estates, and Kathryn Doi Todd, 58, of Los Angeles.

Todd, one of the first Asian American women judges in the nation, has been on the Los Angeles Superior Court for 20 years and is a former presiding judge of the juvenile court. A graduate of Loyola Law School, she will replace Justice John Zebrowski, who retired.
