Fullerton Man Is Arrested in Molestation of Girl, 12
A 37-year-old Fullerton man was arrested on suspicion of fondling the 12-year-old daughter of a family friend as she slept Monday morning, police said.
David Arthur Schurhammer of Fullerton was visiting his friend’s home in east Fullerton about 10:30 a.m., said Lt. Jeff Roop of the Fullerton Police Department.
“The daughter was lying down in her room, he goes in and begins to touch her,” Roop said.
The girl pretended she was asleep, Roop said, hoping he would quit fondling her.
“As far as he gets is taking off her blouse,” Roop said. “She opens her eyes and throws a fit.”
Roop said the girl ran to a neighbor’s house and called 911. The girl’s father was not home at the time, and it was unclear whether anyone else was home. When police arrived, Schurhammer was still there.
Schurhammer was arrested on suspicion of child molestation and is being held at the Fullerton Jail in lieu of $50,000 bail.
Police said they will continue the investigation before turning the matter over to prosecutors.
