UCI Starts Trip With Easy Victory
Malachi Edmond made six of six three-point attempts and scored 22 points Thursday to lead UC Irvine to a 102-58 exhibition basketball victory over Simon Fraser in Burnaby, British Columbia.
Edmond, a 6-foot-1 senior guard, made eight of nine field goals and had five assists for the Anteaters, who had six players in double figures.
Jerry Green scored 19 points and Ben Jones had 18 for UCI, which plays a Vancouver all-star team Saturday in the second of a five-game exhibition series in Burnaby.

The stumbling Waves, who have fallen into last place in the A-League’s Pacific Division, will host the Tennessee Rhythm tonight at 7 at Santa Ana Stadium in their final home game of the regular season.
The Waves (10-14-1, 46 points), who lost to Seattle, 2-0, last weekend, are 12 points ahead of Indiana for the Western Conference’s last playoff spot.
Tennessee (6-19, 25) has the third-worst record in the A-League and has lost 14 consecutive games.
