Singular SENSATION

If you could take just one accessory on a weekend trip to Las Vegas this fall, what would it be? We posed this question to four of the city’s top stylists. After all, they’re the real trendsetters, not the celebs they dress.

PHILLIP BLOCH/Lana marks crocodile clutch

Lana Marks crocodile clutch, $1,075.

“The croc is in,” says Phillip Bloch. “Snakeskin and pony fur were big in the summer. But for fall it’s crocodile and ostrich.” Bloch warns against going overboard with animal prints, suggesting a maximum of two pieces at a time. “Or else you might look like you got lost in a zoo.” Just how versatile is a crocodile clutch? “It could go from Earl Jeans and a Fruit of the Loom tank to a simple Richard Tyler pantsuit.”

RONA STEVENSON/Fendi stretch belt

Fendi stretch belt, $500. “We’re in a time when fashion is glamorous, decadent and opulent,” says Rona Stevenson. “It kind of feels like ‘Dynasty.’ ” Stevenson recommends gold, specifically a skinny belt. “A lot of the clothes for fall are ladylike. And there’s something about a belt that accentuates a lady’s waist,” she says. “You can spice up a pair of denim jeans, and gold goes well with the tweeds and plaids for fall, from Missoni to Pucci prints.”

ALEXANDRA WELKER/Allison stern cuff bracelet

Allison Stern cuff bracelet, $1,425. “I’m all for dramatic accent,” says Alexandra Welker of the big, bold cuff bracelet. The Stern design “makes me think of Liz Taylor at the height of glamour. The teardrop labradorite jewels shake and shimmer like a ‘20s flapper dress.” She also likes leather cuffs, singling out a Louis Vuitton design with a gold “suitcase clasp.” Be careful wearing cuffs on both wrists, however. “You get a ‘Wonder Woman’ bullet cuff look.”

VINCENT BOUCHER/Prada ostrich gloves

Prada ostrich gloves, $490. Vincent Boucher calls ostrich “the new snakeskin.” He suggests a pair of gloves in a soft color such as cream or pale mauve. “It’s been a while since people have thought about gloves as a fashion accessory. But they really make a look. Prada showed them with delicate dresses. They would also be great with an architectural dress in black. You can use them as a punctuation point in an outfit. They are such beautiful objects.”
