Durazo Involved in Crash

Arizona Diamondback first baseman Erubiel Durazo suffered minor injuries in a three-car crash Sunday in Phoenix that seriously injured another driver.

Durazo, 26, was driving a sport utility vehicle when he became involved in the crash with two other vehicles. Durazo and his mother, Maria, were hospitalized.

Durazo had wrist surgery on Thursday and is out for the season.

Baltimore third baseman Cal Ripken, 40, said Sunday that there is a good chance he will play next season. Ripken has been on the disabled list because of lower back pain since June 28 and will be activated off the disabled list on Friday in Cleveland. . . . Chicago Cub outfielder Rondell White is out for the rest of the season after dislocating his left shoulder Saturday. . . . New York Yankee outfielder Paul O’Neill’s right hip pointer is worse than originally thought. He has missed four consecutive games and the Yankees said Sunday he might miss more.
