Fresh Express Recalls Iceberg Salad Kits

SALINAS, Calif. — Processed-food maker Fresh Express said Monday that it is voluntarily recalling one of its salad kits because pieces of plastic were discovered in some packets containing bacon bits.

The nationwide action affects 12-ounce Real Bacon Crumbles Iceberg Lover’s Iceberg Salads with a “best if used by” date of Sept. 10 or earlier, company spokeswoman Robin Sprague said.

Sprague did not know how many of the kits were distributed or to what states. No injuries have been reported, and none of Fresh Express’ other salad kits is affected.
