RKO Names Business Affairs VP, General Counsel

* RKO Pictures Inc. named Adam W. Rosen senior vice president of business affairs and general counsel. Rosen previously served as vice president of legal and business affairs for Warner Bros. International Television Production.

* Los Angeles-based restaurant operator California Pizza Kitchen Inc. has promoted senior vice president of operations Fred Wolfe to chief operating officer, Julie Carruthers to senior vice president of human resources and training, and Sarah A. Goldsmith to senior vice president of marketing and public relations.

* Payden & Rygel, a Los Angeles-based investment counseling firm, has promoted Asha B. Joshi and Laura K. Zimmerman to principals of the firm. Joshi serves as a senior portfolio manager, responsible for domestic and international clients, including health-care organizations, public plans, universities and endowments. Zimmerman is a senior strategist and plays a key role in the formulation of Payden & Rygel’s overall global investment policy.

* Advertising firm Davidandgoliath has tapped Ruth Amir as director of planning/new business to develop strategies for Kia Motors of America and other accounts. She previously worked for TBWA/Chiat/Day.

* Oberthur Card Systems, a French supplier of smart cards, has named Philippe Courteaux as its U.S. director of business development for wireless applications. He will be based in Los Angeles. Courteaux previously led a wireless sales team that has signed key operators and developed a strong network in Africa, India, Israel, the Middle East and the Balkans.
