Burbank voters will select at least one new City Council member and a city treasurer when they go to the polls in February.

On Friday, 10 candidates, including two incumbents, qualified for three seats on the Burbank City Council. In addition, Bob Kramer, a council member since 1996, and three others are running to succeed City Treasurer Jim Rogers, who has had the job since 1989 and is not seeking reelection.

Three candidates also qualified for two seats on the Burbank Board of Education. And City Clerk Judie Sarquiz will run unopposed in her bid for a second term.

The primary election will be held Feb. 27, and the runoff is set for April 10.

Councilman and current Mayor Bill Wiggins is not seeking reelection. He has served on the council since 1993.

City Council incumbents Dave Golonski, a council member since 1993, and Stacey Murphy, who is completing her first four-year term, are seeking reelection. The other council candidates are Charles F. Brandon, Marsha R. Ramos, Gary Olson, Marco Gonzalez, John Dominguez, Robert S. Brody, Howard Rothenbach and Edward Stresino.

The five-member Burbank City Council is elected at-large. Voters may cast votes for as many as three of the 10 council candidates.

In the race for treasurer, Kramer is facing Donna Anderson, Todd Layfer and Charity Wynn. Kramer’s council term expires in 2003.

Incumbents Patricia Burnett and Connie Lackey have filed papers to run for new terms on the Burbank school board. Also running is Glen R. Forsch.
