Public Hearing Set on War Memorial
Plans for the installation of the Vietnam War memorial will be presented to the City Council on Wednesday during a public hearing.
The plans include a 10-foot-tall bronze statue of a U.S. soldier and a Vietnamese soldier standing together on a 5-foot base, which will be on one acre at Monroe and 15th streets, across from the Civic Center.
An executive committee in charge of the project raised most of the needed $530,000 from community donors during the last year.
“I would hope to have it done sometime in July, completely,” Councilman-elect Frank Fry said.
The council meets at 7 p.m. in the council chamber at Civic Center, 8200 Westminster Blvd.
