A West Hills man and his 14-year-old brother were arrested here Tuesday after crashing a stolen car while being pursued in connection with a burglary in Moorpark, authorities said.

Dylan C. Moore, 19, and his brother were taken into custody about 11 a.m. when they abandoned the mustard-yellow Cadillac near Janss Road and Country Oaks Lane, authorities said.

The car had been stolen earlier Tuesday in Canoga Park, said Ventura County Sheriff’s Sgt. Ron Nelson.

Following a brief pursuit on California 23, the Cadillac slammed into a car on the Janss Road offramp and then struck a retaining wall several blocks away, Nelson said.

The suspects ran, but deputies quickly captured the juvenile, and a police dog named Duro stopped Moore by clamping onto his leg, Nelson said. He was treated for the dog bite at a local hospital; no one was injured as a result of the collision.

Deputies began chasing the pair, Nelson said, after receiving a call that two masked men had burglarized a home in the 12000 block of Springcreek Road in Moorpark. Deputies soon spotted the suspects on California 23, heading toward Thousand Oaks.

Moore was booked into Ventura County Jail on suspicion of burglary, auto theft, evading police and hit-and-run with property damage. His bail was set at $50,000, and his arraignment is set for Thursday.

Moore’s brother was booked into Juvenile Hall, and authorities said he was suspected of similar crimes as his brother, but further details were not available.

Although the case was under investigation, Nelson said detectives were looking into whether the suspects know the residents at the Moorpark home and if jewelry and a shotgun found in the stolen car were taken in Tuesday’s heist.
