Donald Eugene O’Reilly, an investment company owner and teacher, died at his home in Ventura on Sunday. He was 75.

He was born Jan. 23, 1925, in Santa Barbara, where he grew up and began a lifelong love of the ocean.

During World War II, he was an officer in the Navy and attended Harvard and Northwestern universities for his officer’s training.

He earned a bachelor’s degree at UCLA and his master’s in English literature from Loyola Marymount University.

He owned the investment firm of O’Reilly & O’Reilly in Porterville, taught English literature at Porterville College and taught chi gong in Los Angeles. He was an avid theatergoer and had roles in local theater productions.

He is survived by son Vincent, daughter Dominique, former wife and lifelong friend Aida, and three granddaughters.

Services are scheduled at 11 a.m. Thursday at St. Anne’s Catholic Church in Porterville.

Arrangements are under the direction of Ted Mayr Funeral Home, Ventura.
