Ex-President Bush Gets New Left Hip

Former President Bush was released from the Mayo Clinic after having surgery to replace his left hip, a hospital spokeswoman said. Bush, 76, underwent surgery Dec. 5 at the Rochester, Minn., hospital. Hip replacement is a common procedure performed on thousands of Americans every year, including former First Lady Barbara Bush at the same clinic in 1997. Jean Becker, a Bush aide, said he was “fine.” “He’s up and walking around.”
