Schools to Perform 3 Holiday Concerts

Nearly a dozen music and vocal groups from Ventura public schools will perform three concerts over three days, beginning Tuesday.

The concerts will feature performances by each of Buena High School’s music ensembles and will showcase musicians from other Ventura schools.

Buena’s string trio will perform at 6:30 p.m. Tuesday at the Pacific View mall, 3350 Telegraph Road, Ventura. The performance will support the Livingston Visiting Nurses Assn. memorial tree lighting.

Buena’s jazz band, concert band and chamber winds ensemble will perform in concert with Balboa Middle School’s wind ensemble at 7 p.m. Wednesday in McConnell Auditorium at Buena High School, 5670 Telegraph Road, Ventura.

Admission is free, but donations will be accepted. Following a school tradition, “Sleigh Ride” will be the final musical piece of the evening. Buena alumni are invited to bring their instruments and play with the combined bands on stage.

Buena’s concert choir and string orchestra will join their counterparts from Ventura High School and Anacapa Middle School for a performance at 7 p.m. Thursday at Ventura High School, 2155 E. Main St., Ventura.
