A Ventura man was killed Monday morning when his motorcycle slammed into a car making a left turn onto 1st Street from Rose Avenue.

Michael Larson, 32, was pronounced dead at St. John’s Regional Medical Center in Oxnard a short time after the 6:15 a.m. crash.

Larson’s death came a day after another Ventura man was killed when his motorcycle plunged more than 100 feet off a cliff in northern Ventura County.

Coroner’s investigators identified the victim of Sunday’s crash as Mark Greenwood, 49. Officials said Greenwood was traveling at a high rate of speed when he failed to negotiate a curve while riding with friends on California 33.

In Monday’s crash, Larson was traveling southbound on Rose when he collided with a station wagon, said Oxnard Traffic Sgt. Ron Whitney.

The four passengers in the station wagon, including an infant, were not injured, Whitney said.

Whitney said the intersection where the collision occurred has a green left-turn signal, but it may be impossible to determine whether Larson or the driver of the station wagon was at fault.

“We have yet to determine a cause of the accident,” Whitney said. “There weren’t any witnesses, and the only people who saw anything were in the car.”

Whitney said minimal skid marks indicated that Larson did not have much room to move out of the way of the car. He said both the station wagon driver and Larson had their lights on at the time of the rash.
