Fiedler Has a Slight Shoulder Tear

Miami Dolphin quarterback Jay Fiedler hopes to stay in the lineup despite a slight tear in his left shoulder.

Tests Monday showed that Fiedler damaged the rotator cuff of his non-throwing arm in the Dolphins’ 16-13 loss to Tampa Bay.

He was hurt when sacked in the second quarter Sunday and briefly left the game. But he played the entire second half, finishing with four interceptions and a fumbled snap that the Buccaneers recovered.

“It’s going to be pain tolerance--whether I can perform to the ability I think is able to take this team to victories,” Fiedler said.

Dallas Cowboy quarterback Troy Aikman probably will miss the team’s next game and is questionable for the season-finale after the 10th concussion of his career.

Aikman was hurt Sunday on a first-quarter tackle by Washington Redskin linebacker LaVar Arrington in Dallas’ 32-13 victory.

Aikman wasn’t expected to play in Sunday’s final home game, against the New York Giants, his agent, Leigh Steinberg, said Monday. His status for the game Christmas night at Tennessee is not yet clear.

Jeff George will start the final two games of the regular season for the Washington Redskins.

“Jeff George will be the quarterback for the rest of the season,” interim Coach Terry Robiskie said. “I don’t have any intentions of making any changes. We’ve got two games left. You’ve got to decide who’s your horse, get on him and ride it.”

The announcement means Brad Johnson, who plans to become a free agent at the end of the season, has probably played his last snap with the Redskins.

Kurt Warner will pick up the tab for the “Bob ‘N Weave.”

The Rams’ celebration dance, banned by the NFL, was performed twice Sunday in the team’s 40-29 victory over the Minnesota Vikings. The players expect to be fined later this week.

“I don’t care if it was $50,000 or if it was $250,000,” the quarterback said after St. Louis ended a three-game losing streak. “It was well worth it. I wanted to spark this team into playing with emotion and having fun again.”
