Alabama Center Gives Up Game
Alabama center Jeremy Hays, who was the Southeastern Conference’s leading rebounder in 1998-99 but has been plagued by leg injuries over the last two years, has decided to stop playing basketball.
Hays was diagnosed with a benign tumor in his right leg last year, just as he completed his recovery from surgery on his left knee.

Leonard Stokes scored 23 points Monday night to lead No. 17 Cincinnati (4-1) to a 97-58 victory over Oakland (Mich.) (3-6) at Cincinnati. . . . The game between No. 17 Wisconsin and Wisconsin Milwaukee at Madison, Wis., was postponed because of severe winter weather. No makeup date was set.
