* Frances Kelley Tuffley, 88; Surgical Nurse

Frances Lillian Kelley Tuffley, a retired registered nurse, died Friday in Los Robles Regional Medical Center in Thousand Oaks after a short illness. She was 88.
She was born Nov. 27, 1912, in Rosebud County, Mont., where she grew up on a ranch.
Later, she went to nursing school at Holy Rosary Hospital in Miles City, Mont., and became a surgical nurse. About 1957, she moved to Newbury Park, where she continued working as a surgical nurse until retiring in 1978.
She was a member of the Order of the Eastern Star Camarillo Chapter 649 and the Oxnard Chapter 322. She was worthy matron of the Oxnard chapter in 1976 and deputy grand matron in 1987. She was also a member of the Somis Thursday Club.
Her daughter, Ann Nelson of Ventura, said her mother grew orchids and made corsages for the women’s groups with which she had been affiliated.
In addition to her daughter, she is survived by her son, Kenneth Tuffley of Los Gatos; brother Joe Kelley of Helena, Mont.; and two grandchildren. A memorial service is scheduled at 10:30 a.m. Friday at Ted Mayr Funeral Home in Ventura.
Memorial contributions may be made in her name to the J. Clifford Lee Cancer Fund, in care of Ted Mayr Funeral Home.
Arrangements are under the direction of the Ted Mayr Funeral Home in Ventura.
