Three suspects in the fatal shooting of a night clerk who was robbed of $30 and some Lotto tickets in Duarte more than two years ago have been arrested in Minnesota, authorities said Wednesday.

Cory Robinson, 20, and Brandale Robinson, 21, were arrested separately in St. Paul and Minneapolis on Tuesday by a task force of FBI special agents and law enforcement investigators in Los Angeles and Minnesota, Los Angeles County Sheriff’s Depty. Val Rosario said.

A third suspect, James Broughton, 20, was arrested at an undisclosed location in the San Gabriel Valley on Tuesday and booked at the Walnut sheriff’s substation, he said.

“All three were arrested on charges of robbery and murder, and are being held without bail,” Rosario said. “Extradition proceedings are underway to bring the Robinson brothers back to Los Angeles County to face charges.”

Hussain, 51, was a father of five who had emigrated with his wife and two children from Pakistan in 1985 for better opportunities.

He was killed Nov. 23, 1998, as he knelt on the floor of the 7-Eleven store he co-owned, complying with his assailants until the moment of his death.

About 12:22 a.m. that morning, two men, one wearing a jacket with the letters DISS USA on the back, approached the counter, according to a store surveillance tape.

The tape showed two robbers rifling through drawers behind the counter as Hussain helped with the cash register. At one point, he leaned against the counter, seemingly relaxed, while they pulled out scrolls of Lotto tickets.

After spending more than three minutes looking for cash and other valuables, one of the gunmen on the videotape grabbed Hussain and forced him to the ground. The other robber then faced Hussain and shot him. He didn’t resist, and there was no struggle.

Two customers later found Hussain’s body behind the counter.
