Police Say Man Killed Woman
Two young children were at home when their father stabbed and killed their mother and then stabbed himself, police said Wednesday.
Police declined to say whether the 5-year-old girl and 7-year-old boy witnessed the crime. They alerted a grandmother who then called police.
Edwin Rolando Sis, 38, stabbed Ingrid Alvarado, 27, several times with a utility knife in the upper torso and then stabbed himself once in the chest at their home about 6 a.m. in the 8800 block of Morehart Avenue, said Det. Vince Bancroft of the Los Angeles Police Department’s North Hollywood Division.
Ingrid Alvarado, 27, was pronounced dead at 6:58 a.m. at Providence Holy Cross Medical Center in Mission Hills.
Sis is in stable condition at the same hospital where he is under guard. He will be arrested on suspicion of murder and transferred to the hospital ward at the County Jail when his condition permits, said LAPD Officer Jason Lee.
Neither child was injured. Both were taken into custody by the county Department of Children and Family Services, Lee said.
The couple had been living together for eight years, Bancroft said.
