Matheis Will Lead Irvine Water District

Directors of the Irvine Ranch Water District named Mary Aileen Matheis to serve as the board’s first female president during an annual organizational meeting Monday.

Matheis, an Irvine resident reelected in November to another four-year term, through 2004, has been on the board since 1988.

“I’m very honored,” she said. “Our past leadership has been very effective, and I look forward to continuing that tradition.

“I plan to work with other agencies to ensure the delivery of quality water service to our community.”

Brian Brady, also a resident of Irvine, was named vice president and his term runs through 2002. He has served on the five-member board since 1998.

Irvine Ranch serves Irvine, portions of Tustin, Santa Ana, Newport Beach, Costa Mesa, Orange, Portola Hills, the Santa Ana Heights community and unincorporated areas of Foothill Ranch and Newport Coast.

The board meets at 6:30 p.m. on the second and fourth Monday of each month at the district headquarters, 15600 Sand Canyon Ave., in Irvine.
